ABOUT ABOUT

Morning Lecture:

Garden Bulbs for the South by Scott Ogden

Time: 10:30AM to Noon

Moore Farms Botanical Garden

$15 per person (Admission allows you to roam the garden)

From earliest spring through summer, fall, and even in the depths of winter, fragrant, colorful flower bulbs grace old-fashioned Southern gardens with vibrant bloom. Yet these showy blossoms are not seen as often as they might be in modern plantings. Success comes with knowing which varieties thrive on local soils and endure Southern heat and humidity. This presentation explores these diverse bulbs and celebrates their charms and histories, while highlighting design ideas for enduring beauty through the seasons.

Afternoon Lecture:

Gardening for Sensuality by Scott Ogden and Lauren Springer Ogden

Time: 1:30PM to 3PM

Moore Farms Botanical Garden

$15 per person (Admission allows you to roam the garden)

What makes a garden sensual? It can be the play of light and darkness; the contrast of sound and motion against stillness and serenity; the visual, fragrant, and tactile qualities of plants; the creation of mystery, surprise, and immersion; the presence of fascinating creatures; or beautiful ripe food to be picked and eaten. Scott and Lauren show how to mold experience in the garden through the selection of plants and creation of spaces that engage the senses.

Lecture+Lunch+Class:

Spend the whole day with us! Come to Scott's lecture in the morning, followed by a delicious deli lunch provided by MFBG. After lunch, stick around as Lauren joins in to co-teach the afternoon lecture.  This whole day only costs $40. If you have any special dietary restrictions, please call Roberta Burns at (843) 210-7582

Free Garden Open:

Want to just roam the garden and enjoy the bulb show? Come visit the garden for FREE for our open day. The lecture and lunch is not included, but visitors can enjoy self-guided exploration of the grounds during the day. Water and snacks will be available for sale with cash. Although this is a free open, we encourage pre-registration through the link below.

Speaker bios: With horticultural experience that spans zones 4 through 10, Scott Ogden and Lauren Springer Ogden design public and private gardens around the country. As a team they have authored two books: the award-winning Plant-Driven Design and the Waterwise Plants for Sustainable Gardens. Their best-known solo books are Lauren’s recently updated The Undaunted Garden and Scott’s Garden Bulbs for the South and The Moonlit Garden. Several of their plant introductions are in the nursery trade, including two patented selections: Oenothera ‘Shimmer’ and Salvia ‘Ultra Violet’. At home in the challenging climates of Austin, Texas and Fort Collins, Colorado, they tend two intensive gardens together.

All ticket proceeds for this day benefit the Friends of the Revolutionary Rivers (FOREVR). More information about this organization can be found at: http://www.forevr.us/.
