Craig LeHoullier (award winning author of Epic Tomatoes and Growing Vegetables in Straw Bales) will share his knowledge and techniques in an information packed workshop that will provide all that you need for your best tomato results.
The first part of the class will focus on the very best tomato varieties for gardens in this growing area, including interesting stories and history to enhance the interest and deliciousness of your tomato harvest. In the second part, we'll delve into the various techniques, tricks and tips that Craig learned throughout his 30 years of successfully growing thousands of types of tomatoes in the ground, containers or straw bales. Loaded with gorgeous pictures, please bring all of your tomato questions for Craig to answer.

Instructor: Craig LeHoullier gardens in Raleigh North Carolina with his wife, Susan, and menagerie of cats and dogs. Born in Rhode Island, the gardening bug was planted early on by his grandfather and father. A chemist by education, Craig had a long career in pharmaceuticals before retiring in 2011 and beginning his second (and more enjoyable) career as a garden writer, lecturer and grower of as many tomatoes as he can fit each season. Craig's first book, Epic Tomatoes, was published by Storey in 2015 and won the gold award as best book in 2016 from Garden Writers Association. He has been adviser for tomatoes to the Seed Savers Exchange since the early 1990s, and co-leads a unique world-wide breeding project to create useful, delicious dwarf growing tomatoes especially for space challenged home gardeners.
